The old port town where the line divides.
Kalyan was a trading port on the Ulhas creek long before Bombay existed, and Shivaji took it in the 1650s. Today it is the great junction of the Central Line, where the tracks split for Kasara and Nashik one way and Karjat and Pune the other. The fort above the creek and the old lake are what is left of the town it used to be.
